2024 Trends in Hotel Technology
HITEC sessions this year will lean in on security and innovation, while also putting operational efficiency front and center. Undoubtedly, most of the talk in the sessions, hallways and on the tradeshow floor will be centered around Artificial Intelligence. Hoteliers are eager to learn how the disruptive technology can affect their businesses now and into the future, and suppliers are eager to show off the ways AI has improved their offerings.
Scot Campbell, principle at Integrated Resort Advisors and member of the HITEC Advisory council, said a pre-event survey highlighted the importance of weaving AI into many of the educational sessions at the event.
“At least 60% of what was submitted from folks has something to do with AI because it's such a new technology that is emerging and everybody wants to find out how to use it,” he said.
According to a recent Amadeus survey, technologies expected to have the biggest impact on the industry in the next five years are:
- AI and machine learning. AI and machine learning will revolutionize hospitality by enhancing personalized guest experiences, optimizing operational efficiency, and enabling predictive analytics for better decision-making.
- Digital payments. Digital payments will streamline operations by helping accounting and finance teams manage invoices and reconcile payments.
- Data analytics. Data analytics will shape hospitality by providing actionable insights that drive personalized guest services, optimize operations, and inform strategic decision-making for improved profitability.
- Cloud computing. Improved technology integrations will enhance hospitality by enabling seamless data sharing, scalable solutions, and real-time management across systems.
- Self-service technology. Self-service technology will shape the future guest experience by providing greater convenience, personalization and control.
